Message from Jon Goulding, Executive Headteacher of Hellingly Community Primary School

Welcome to Hellingly Community Primary School. We are a small primary school located in the rural village of Hellingly, East Sussex. The school has been part of the community since 1872 with many generations of local families attending the school. We continue to serve the local community as it develops and grows with recent new estates being built within the local area. Our school embraces and celebrates our diverse community.

Being small, our school has a close-knit family feel to it. We have a focus on developing very strong staff, family and child relationships. By working in partnership, we know that we can best meet the needs of all pupils that attend the school. Each child to us is unique, and we endeavour to support them on their journey through education by enabling them to achieve to their potential as reflected in our motto, ‘Reach for the stars’.

We provide an inclusive curriculum that gives all children the opportunity to fulfil their potential, both academically and in wider interests and talents. At Hellingly School, we believe that everybody has the right to achieve to their full potential; learning should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Our school site has also been developed to ensure that our children have opportunities to learn outdoors in our forest school, and break times are enhanced by are OPAL project, which creates explorative and creative play opportunities. Our location in East Sussex means we can enrich the curriculum with visits to historical sites and the beautiful South Downs.
